In Care.
She sits like the others in an easy chair,
There's nothing to do except sit and stare.
So she's waiting there for her next cup of tea,
then she'll wait to see what dinner will be.
The routine is the same whatever the day
and everyone knows they are there to stay.
Maybe that's why you see no happy face
or meet someone who wants to be in the place.
So they sit together with hardly a word,
There's nothing to say, that hasn't been heard.
Staring at the wall with one eye on the door
regular visitors don't come any more.
Then she wonders who cares, now that she's in care
and who's responsible for putting her there.
So with no way out, though they don't lock the gates,
she has no option, she just sits and she waits.
